Indigo Bunting among other birds to visit the feeder today

indigo bunting
bluebird
The indigo bunting is a much smaller bird than the bluebird, but what an eye -catching color of blue. They do not linger too long here,so I was happy to see him today.

So many birds to feed this year. I have never seen so many bluejays in my yard either. I guess I am the only one feeding & offering water as 2 of my neighbors passed.

The carolina wren is nesting in this old mailbox. It was so hard to get them coming in going,I hear little voices so I know they`ve hatched.

It is much faster loading my pictures here. I have not been able to load them on facebook lately & I love showing my backyard birdbirds, have a great weekend everyone!

you could sense their fear as the hawk has been flying about.

World Bird Wed.

Is it time already for world bird Wed.? Go to this link & see all the beautiful birds from all around the world, hosted by the Springman!http://thepineriverreview.blogspot.com/
This is a depressing time of year for me,watching the song birds fill up for their migrations. We have had alot fueling up going on the past few days. The adults leave first usually,I never understood why unless the little ones have to earn more flight feathers. There are still 2 remaining hummingbirds & the younger brown thrashers.I look for them to be gone this week.Of course, some birds will remain like the white breasted nuthatcher hanging upside down waiting for his turn at the suet cakes.Usually the evenning red breasted grosbeak stops in on their way through here, but I haven`t seen them yet. This poor female cardinal is growing in more feathers but looks rather rough right now.Have a wonderful week!

Birdwatching

Last week on the 30th I was feeling a little depressed & took the dogs a walk to clear my head,to my surprise,a pair of eastern bluebirds almost landed on me.I was just about home,so I set up watch at my feeder for awhile with hopes of getting a picture of them, but these are all the birds I saw for the short time I sat to watch.Figures when I don`t have my camera with me...I always see something special.
