World Bird Wed.

I have for you the dark-eyed junco,the house finch,& a couple of birds from my brother`s backyard,which is almost on a golf course that a stream & lake runs by.
I`m sure of the Canadian Geese there,but I`m unsure about the white birds,he calls them swans,but they don`t appear to be swans to me.

I was glad that I was on the pther side of this lake when the white bird started chasing the geese,he looked a little scarey to me!

World bird Wed.turkey & black faced vultures

I have posted this post several times & sorry about the repost,but it is world bird Wed.& this is all I got !
Back in Nov.2009,we had a sight here that was unbelievable.Every afternoon about 4pm till dark our forest would fill with both black faced vultures & red-faced turkey vultures.Our elderly neighbor would yell out-"I`m not dead yet!",but still the woods filled with these ugly birds I am quite taken with.They are natures clean up crew & I mused that someone got a deer & it died in our neck of the woods,unfound.I never found it,but surely appreciated their presence as they gathered & peppered our woods with their white droppings.
In the mornings I noticed that they would warm up their wings,slowly & purposely,letting the air catch the morning dew before they glided away.

World Bird Wed.

Today is the day to show everyone in the world the birds you have seen this week.The link is over at the Springman`s..http://pineriverreview.blogspot.com/
This week the baby catbirds came to the feeder bothering mom,she wasn`t feeding them fast enough.They look so much alike their adult parents that it`s hard to tell them apart.They will not migrate till all the pokeberries are gone.I can`t find a picture of the pokeberries,I`ll have to enter it later.The birds have planted them everywhere,& I let them grow because I thought they would be useful to use as a dye for my fiber.I was told it won`t be colorfast unless I do something with buttermilk with the berries.What???!!!
The carolina wren has been singing & munching on the magnolia tree`s seed cones.
The whitebreasted nuthatch is making regular trips to the newly filled feeder.

And lastly,the baby hummingbirds are still here,though the others left with the hurricane winds-which,thankfully,we lost no trees from,the little male looks like he`s waving goodbye. I`ve had them coming to their feeder as late as the end of Oct.,so I made fresh sugar water for them today.
