I need to stay off facebook...really. I answered the call for a home for this 8 year golden, never dreaming that all of the golden retriever lovers out there in facebook land did not have a place for this sweetie, but lo & behold she needed a home & after 2 weeks on facebook she came to live with us.
Her mommy went to live in an assisted living home & couldn`t take her. Donna still drives & has been here to see Susie & I am glad that they can be together here.
This is my first at having a golden. I`ve always loved them. But there are things I did not know that they could do.
Example....did you know that the golden retriever can hide stuff in their jowls? Like dead animals?! The first time she brought in a dead animal, I did not know it. She came inside, went to her gigantic dog bed, & when little toy poodle, Chloe, went over to have a sniff at her bed, she growled. I scolded her saying it is not nice to do that & I won`t put up with it. She hung her head , got out of her bed & dropped some dead creature at my feet. I screamed, everyone scattered, & I was able to take her gift out to the trash. Since then there have been 4 more of these "gifts." I am working on having her "smile" at me before I allow her to come inside the house now.Because she can sure hide things in the sides of her mouth...

Awww, she is so pretty. And I love her smile. Thank you for taking her in when she needed a home. Have a happy day!
She is soooo adorable!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so glad you took her in. Older dogs are so hard to place. She's probably bewildered why you didn't like her gift. lol
How funny! She's a pretty dog and apparently thinks she has to win your approval with her gifts! :-)
Susie is adorable! However I hope she will stop bringing gifts at home! :) Years ago, my cat had offered me a gift, a dead bird in the middle of my living room, I was shocked when I came home from work, turned on the lights and saw the poor dead starling on the carpet!
Have a nice week-end! Ciao!
She's beautiful! I thought only cats brought gifts.
Good morning, I hope the gifts stop coming. Your golden Susie is beautiful. Happy Sunday, enjoy your new week ahead!
PS, thank your for linking up and sharing your post!
Oh, she is gorgeous!! :)
BOL - I can't tell you how many live critters we've ended up with too. Nothing like trying to get a bird out of the house! She is beautiful!

She's a lucky dog to have you to care for her! Thank you for taking her in. That's hilarious that she hides things in her mouth ;-) Well, maybe not so great for finding dead things in the house, but funny later?
I hope that you have a happy and healthy 2016!
She looks so much like my old golden, Chloe! How awesome that she is now safe with you!
How is she doing?
