Dyeing with Kool Aid

I have been so busy lately, but I`ll show you what I did today.I washed mohair from the goats & sheeps wool & played around with dyeing the fiber.I boiled water in the enamelware pot I use for just dyeing, let it cool some & added different colors of kool aid.I put my hot ,wet ,clean fiber into the pot & let it sit about a half hour till all the water was clear.I used a glass to dip down in the pot to see if the water was clear, then I dumped it out.
I used berry blue-which turned a teal-ish blue,I used both wool & mohair together to see what the difference was,the mohair is always so shiny whether it is dyed or not.
The grape & berry blue I put together,& ended up with a charcoal gray, which I didn`t like,so I added a small bit of Greener Shades dye, coral reef color & got another shade of lovely teal green.
The large batches you see here I put a lb.of wool/mohair mixed, it was probably too much to try to dye at once, some is colored good, others aren`t.I put Blackie`s mohair in,it is black, it dyed a pretty dark cherry color.I wish I had more of that shade.I used all different shades for that, tropical punch, black cherry ,maybe even a grape, will have to check again. But,here are the results...I can`t really say that the Greener Shades is the real deal as I mixed it with the kool-aid.I know that the Greener Shades Dye will be much more beautiful just used as it is.I bought a small starter set of that dye,if you belong to the group,Ravelry, you can use your purchase to win things in Oct.
