Rehoming Susie, the death of my parrot,a new puppy/Sat.`s critters

It has been such a long time since I have written. I am going to try & play catch up with Eileen for Sat`s critters, link up here

Susie, the golden I rescued, started becoming more & more dominate with the yard space, proclaiming  that the snow was hers, all hers, biting all of the dogs who were enjoying running & playing in the snow,so that was the end of the rope for me ,so she had to go.I had worked with her a good 6 months or more.It was difficult finding someone to take an 8 year old who didn`t already have a dog.I couldn`t risk sending her to a home with other dogs. Finally, my brother`s pastor was looking for a dog for his little boys, one that was already trained & out of the nipping stage.Susie was perfect for the family.

The last day of March I was shocked to find Elvis dead at the bottom of his cage, still clutching a peanut. He had been with us 35 years & had prior owners,so he was quite old,but I was devestated. No more will we hear,do you wanna drink? wanna apple? I guess he just lived a long life & it was his time to go. I imagine he is on my husband`s shoulder in heaven.

Finally, I am not a german shepard person, but when this puppy became available,I took her,her name is Sonya. She will be 12 weeks at the end of the month. It has been 8 years since I have had a puppy,so it has been challenging. She is a shiloh shepard, long haired.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Sat.`s critters/ the misadventures of Hope the hamster

Linking up with Eileen herehttp://viewingnaturewitheileen.blogspot.com/
Travelling the backroads in Aug.with my friend,Cathleen, & my granddaughter,Savannah, we discovered many items to be thrown away from yard sales we were too late to go to, of course Cathleen said Savannah must have a hamster cage sitting out for trash. After church the next day we were at Petsmart getting the hamster she named Hope.
Well, there was a reason it was sitting out to be trashed, it fell apart while we were cleaning it & we couldn`t figure out how to put it back together. I had an extra cage in the shed, so she went in it.
She was fine & had a little ball she could roll around in too, it was scotch taped closed though...things were going so well her mom allowed her to take it home. Mon.after school I get this phone call from Savannah that Hope had escaped from the cage. She was crying so hard I could barely tell what she was saying. They live in a townhouse with 3 floors. I got her calmed down & told her she was most likely in her room somewhere, well they did find her under her bed. They put her back in the cage & she promptly escaped right before their eyes, so that night she rolled in her ball all around Savannah`s room stressing her out so Savannah couldn`t sleep.
I recieved her back the next day,so I took the measurements & went to walmart & bought a tote to set the cage down inside. It was tight so I knew she couldn`t get out but she still had her wheel hooked to the cage to play on.
Well, don`t you know I went to check on the creature later, & she was wedged so tight in the bars of the cage & against that tote where she had been escaping from that I thought she was dead. I carefully took her out, she was not dead but I am glad that I checked on her when I did.The bars were embeded spots in her skin.Slowly over the next several days the bar marks went away & I am happy to report she is fine & healthy .She lives in the tote now with a new stand up wheel to run on which I listen to at night when I can`t sleep,squeek...squeek...

Sat.`s critters .id rather b birdin` and funny story

On a road close to my home there runs a gasline. The soil must be warmer along the gasline because the snow always melts the whole way up & down &green grass was showing at the end of Jan. I was driving down the road without my camera, & saw flocks of robins digging in that green grass. Of course no one believed me.
On Feb 7th I looked out my kitchen window & exclaimed to my friend on the phone, there is a robin in the tree out here. I hurriedly told Linda, wow, he must be waiting to get to the feeder, he is after the very expensive mealworms I bought at Tractor Supply. She said her goodbyes so I could try & get a picture. I grabbed my camera, & crept from window to window, snapping pictures. The 5 dogs all were sensing my excitement, so they tried to get in on whatever action was taking me to the door. I couldn`t believe he wasn`t flying away with all the barking & commotion. I get to the door & realized the "bird" had never moved. He also had no head! It was a rotten apple clinging to the tree outside my door!!!!!
Well, my creditability was shot with my friends. I excitedly told them, I DO have the flock of robins here that I saw in Jan.! I was able to prove it this time.  They were gathering mud in the lane, perhaps to make nests with? I hope they got the nests made because we are in for below 0 wind chills here tonight.
