Indigo Bunting among other birds to visit the feeder today

indigo bunting
bluebird
The indigo bunting is a much smaller bird than the bluebird, but what an eye -catching color of blue. They do not linger too long here,so I was happy to see him today.

So many birds to feed this year. I have never seen so many bluejays in my yard either. I guess I am the only one feeding & offering water as 2 of my neighbors passed.

The carolina wren is nesting in this old mailbox. It was so hard to get them coming in going,I hear little voices so I know they`ve hatched.

It is much faster loading my pictures here. I have not been able to load them on facebook lately & I love showing my backyard birdbirds, have a great weekend everyone!

you could sense their fear as the hawk has been flying about.

Happy Thanksgiving

Hope everyone had a happy turkey day. This is the first year I haven`t cooked in I don`t know how long.I`m the only one who stuffs the turkey with oyster stuffing & I really miss that this year. One year I did it the Martha Stewart way, dipping cheesecloth in unsalted butter & white wine, letting it soak up & wrapping the turkey up with it.When it baked,it looked black,so we were all surprised when I took the cheesecloth off & it was really, really good, one of the best turkeys I`ve ever made.My first year I stuffed the turkey with the frozen gizzards still in the bag & in the turkey. It was a shock to me when the dh carved it & out came this paper with these "things" in it.I think someone won some money in a video of that happenning to them, been there, already done that.
The vultures are still coming ,fewer in number now. They have been very vocal, using that piercing, shrill call while crusing around. Some feeders pics of birds we had this month,my feeder is clean,it is just discolored, maybe Santa will bring me a new one?

I don`t know if thrashers are making this nest or not, they`ve been hanging out about it.They only had 1 baby that I saw this year. Are they ready to make more?
Here are pics of a baby house finch pestering the daylights outa his dad. Also,a surprised dove at the feeder & a flat-topped female cardinal.
