The Mannings Handspinning annual open house

We went to the Mannings open house today. We got to see a little of everything.John Frett from Pinxterbloom Farm was there with 2 of his 3 year old angora goats & 2 babies.I remarked on how large his angoras were, the horns were really large. He said wethered angoras don`t get big horns usually. He called his all white, but they looked brown to me,the babies were pure white,so soft!!!I took alot of pics.
They also had angora rabbits,2 white ones & one gray. She sheared her rabbit while we were there, she used a pair of sissorces-can`t spell-& started at the rabbits back & basically cut it off. Those ladies were from Ewes-ful Fiber Arts, home of german angora rabbits.www.prismportal.com/fiberarts
Someone sheared a sheep too, there were lots of things going on.I got to stare at people spinning ,trying to will it all in my mind.I bought 3 books,1 looks really easy to learn from,it`s called Teach Yourself Visually Handspinning by Judith MacKenzie McCuin.

Dolls

A side photo of the doll I just posted so you can see she is wearing a bonnet. Here are the black dolls I made using a Netty LaCroix pattern.I stitched them with muslin, painted them, sanded them, painted again & dusted with cinnamon.I used Blackie`s fleece to needlefelt to their heads.I should note that the black dolls are called stump dolls, therefore they have no legs & stumps for arms.

This-N-That Fabrics

I do the shop hop from time to time & found this nice quilting shop.http://www.this-n-thatfabrics.com.They will give you 5% off purchases if you list them on your blogger with a link.I`m hoping I did the link right this time.Anyhow, they are a quilt shop in Pa. that runs all sorts of fun contests themselves.Last year I won a singer featherweight from them.It is awsome.I like to make cloth dolls as well as quilt & it sews around tiny fingers perfectly. Here are 3 of the dolls I made using Annie Belcher`s patterns but adding my own touch such as my angora goats mohair for their hair.
