Red Bellied Woodpecker m.carolinus

This is world bird Wed.& this week I have photographed the red bellied woodpecker. The red coloring from his bill to the nape of his neck is red,& that tells me this woodpecker is male.He is lightly shaded pinkish on his breast too.He sits on the electric pole to get a view of the crowded feeder.Luckily I don`t scare the dogs, always on high alert when I grab the camera.Go over to the Springman`s blog to get in on the fun.I will try to provide the link, but we all know how that goes when I try to insert a link...
I had some computer problems this week a certain cat named Simba caused,it is usually Maggie, but she is not to blame this time.

Interesting shots of this bird! Love how it seems to be managing to just cling on to the feeder!

I love your photos of the red bellied! You got him in some great poses---I dont have a decent photo of one of these guys have a very pixelated one--I have never been able to get them to come to the feeders! So a certain cat is in hot water~maybe?

the constantwalker, your site has some beautiful birds,I love your goldfinches, ours here in the usa are differently colored & they molt for the winter, making them not as bright yellow.I can`t seem to get the comments I make to take on your site & holdingmoments`s site,I shall try again.
holding moments,I laughed at your story about Christmas & seeing the light, hope yours was filling with those moments you capture so well,I will try again to leave comments on your site.
Dixxe,I had to sit awhile praying that the dogs didn`t bark as he held onto the feeder.
Greyscale Territory,he looked like he was hanging on for dear life, have to put more suet out today for them.
Emptynesters, thanks for your comments, have to visit your site today.
Larry,am looking forward to seeing the birds you captured,am going there now...phylliso

I have not seen these attractive birds in my direct area, but I understand they have been seen nearby. Boom & Gary of THe Vermilon River, Canada.

Uh oh...I know how those kitties can cause computer problems. But they sure do like to be near and/or 'help'.

Great looking woodpecker! So funny you should be mentioning your cat Simba. I have Chazz the cat visiting me this weekend with her beautiful owner Suzanne. Chazz will check the house out for mice and keep our feet warm at night. Nice. I am going to take bird pictures all day today, maybe I'll see a woodpecker too! ;-)wbw
