More northern mockingbird,stick nests

The mockingbird is still hanging out here, two days ago the water was thawed & he & the other birds were loving their drinks. Now today I will have to take out water because the heater in my dog water dish is not working,& it must be about 4 below outside-that`s what our weather guy reported anyhow-with the wind factor. The mockingbird is a long bird, his posing in the brush makes him appear to be short, but if you look closely when he`s taking a drink, you can see his tail is rather long, like a catbird.
old nest
new nest
I froze my butt off walking the dogs down in the woods, trying to get Chloe potty trained, she loves to walk & I could`ve made her a sweater, but bought a $4 one at Wallyland instead, anyhow,on our walk, I spotted the 2 hawks in the woods, carrying sticks We "snuck"on down & I saw they were placing sticks in a pine down below from the other pine where the nest looks so well made & usable,I can`t understand why they would make a new one,so close.
We came back up after watching them fly away in different directions,I changed into a warmer brown coat & hat & gloves,& went back down to brave the cold to see what was going on.I caught them both flying away again in different directions, but the glimpse I got of them, they looked like turkeys! They can`t be turkeys, they nest on the ground.I stayed down there till my eyes watered, then gave up,I`ll try later to get a pic of them.
Linking up with wild bird Wed.,I have nothing new to show except for the mockingbird again,go post your bird pics at this link http://paying-ready-attention-gallery.blogspot.com/

Thank you for your comments! It was too freezing cold outside to go back down in the woods today, minus 17 was the wind chill factor according to local news at 5pm.It hasn`t been this cold for 2 years,it`s being said today. Now where did I stash my long underware 2 years ago?I`m such a baby in the cold....phyllis
