Greasing the Griswolds

In many shamanic societies,if you came to a medium person complaining of being disheartened, dispirited,or depressed, they would ask you 4 questions :
"When did you stop dancing? When did you stop singing? When did you stop being enchanted by stories? When did you stop being comforted by the sweet territory of silence?"
Gabrielle Roth

My sweet granddaughter stays with me some weekends & about a month ago I was teaching her more about sewing, she did really well even though I was mentally cursing the pattern. As we were working ,she says," Nana,do you feel like listenning to music?" I abruptly said,"no." But this child totally gets me,it was not ,can I ,let`s listen, but do you FEEL like listenning?

In the almost 2 years that my husband passed, this house has not gotten much of a clean-up, the basics get done, animals cared for, but the cobwebs were growing, my friends would do the walk-through to look at my "stuff" , collections of stuff my husband & I would gather on our flea market trips . He got into the iron skillets, wanting every number of the griswold, often ordering them from ebay.I have the best of friends. They never say anything, check on me,& offer to help me.But most things I just have to get through myself.

That weekend when Savannah went home,I got the cd/radio out, dusted it off, put on the music ,& danced around my kitchen cleaning, giving the old wood cookstove a cleaning , & the items I had on it & started on the many plates I have hanging on the wall. I`ll soon get all of those salt & pepper shakers down...but I believe that I am on my way to living again.
Simon contentedly laying in my way as I dance around him...guess I will have to lay some tile down on the places my hubby never finished

The mushroom salt & peppers can`t be washed, they are paper machie`

This is another quote I found, it suits me,not sure of the author...
This may not be cast iron, but it is heavy, guess you could put a tealight inside
"I still get very high & very low in life daily. But I have finally accepted the fact that sensitive is just how I was made, that I don`t have to hide it,& I don`t have to fix it,I am not broken."
This cricket is cast iron, not sure what it was used for

Sounds like things are getting better for you! Love your collections. I hate dusting. I do a good dusting like once a year. You should see my craft room. lol I heard that those metal crickets are supposed to be good luck. You see them in houses around here a lot.

When I am feeling blue, and don't want to do much of anything, I grab my camera and a collie or two and try to find a new picture spot. They love it, because it means a walk or hike, and I usually feel better after.

How many dogs do you have? Have you tried to get a group photo?

BTW - your house is charming!

Collies always give me a reason to smile too...no I never tried to get a group shot,my grandaughter would have to help with that!
I have 5 dogs, Susie ,the golden I rehomed on Sat. to a pastor & his family who wanted an older dog for their children to start out with, already housebroken, ect. She was not happy here, she used to be the only dog,her owner went to a home . I discovered her attcking the other dogs in the fenced yard a couple of times, the last being the blizzard, she wanted the snow all for herself,so I began trying to rehome her.She is happy now the family & their children adore her. So,am back to 5,2 collies,2 shelties,& a toy poodle I have to walk on a leash because she is an escape artist. The 1 collie,1 sheltie, & the toy were given to me.They are all my kids!phyllis
