Hay
My husband found someone local we can get hay from.He also has 4 goats,they are the boer goats.He supplies locals who have horses.He only had this huge bale left,but it fit perfectly on the trailor,thank the dear Lord.It is such a big secret around here about where to buy hay.No one wants to give up their source.It is unbelievable.The last time we bought we had to go to an auction & bid on truckloads.We didn`t realize the price you bid was for a ton,not the whole truck,it was what the truck`s load weighed.So,we got a learning experiance from that,but paid a fair price for it.We just ran out.We have no where to really store this big bale so I`m thinking one day we`ll wake up to herds of deer in the yard eating it.

Are your goats fed hay year round? I've heard in some places it's up to $20/bale. Hard to believe. I would have thought you'd have those goats mowing your lawn. By the way, how long have you had them????
yes,we offer hay year around.We also let them out to eat the grass & clover we have planted for them,wild raspberry,wild roses,things that grow in our wooded area too.we`ve had them going on 3 years now.phylliso
A bale of hay here where I live in Tennessee is $5.00 at the co-op. I doubt if you need to worry about the deer eating your hay; they seem to go for the FLOWERS that are in bloom! Ha! That's been our experience. Our yucca plants were just getting white flowers on and the deer came and munched them off. Last year they actually got a chance to bloom before they got ate.
