The Mannings Handspinning annual open house

We went to the Mannings open house today. We got to see a little of everything.John Frett from Pinxterbloom Farm was there with 2 of his 3 year old angora goats & 2 babies.I remarked on how large his angoras were, the horns were really large. He said wethered angoras don`t get big horns usually. He called his all white, but they looked brown to me,the babies were pure white,so soft!!!I took alot of pics.
They also had angora rabbits,2 white ones & one gray. She sheared her rabbit while we were there, she used a pair of sissorces-can`t spell-& started at the rabbits back & basically cut it off. Those ladies were from Ewes-ful Fiber Arts, home of german angora rabbits.www.prismportal.com/fiberarts
Someone sheared a sheep too, there were lots of things going on.I got to stare at people spinning ,trying to will it all in my mind.I bought 3 books,1 looks really easy to learn from,it`s called Teach Yourself Visually Handspinning by Judith MacKenzie McCuin.

At the local fall festival a few years ago, a woman had angora rabbits and she was just cutting their hair out and spinning it right there on the spot. I was surprised at that. The rabbits didn't mind at all. It was nice. She gave me her phone number if I wanted to learn to spin the angora hair she'd teach me but I never followed up. I'd have to get some of my own and I'm not prepared for that.
Nice pictures! That mushroom dye is awesome!
