Hen-of-the-woods

Our neighbors brought us a huge mushroom that is edible.I`m sure it weighed about 10lbs.We ate some,& I froze the rest. From my searches on goggle,I`ve come to the conclusion it is a hen-of-the-woods{grifola frondosa}.It`s supposed to help your immune system & has cancer preventing properties. It grows at the base of oak trees. It is flavorless to me,I like the other kind I blogged about earlier best.

We don`t try them unless the people we know who give them to us eat them, most of the time they just know they`re edible, there was another mushroom I thought it may be,the name had "oyster"in it,but I feel like I have id`d it correctly.phylliso

The KITTENS are just adorable, I am so glad that you found them. What a great idea to carry that carrier around in thr car with you. The mushroom looks interesting. 10 lbs is alot of mushrooms though. Hugs, Robin
