This was the highlight of my day today, seeing this owl.He was so beautiful.I believe he had something going on with a pack of crows today.Crows were soundly loudly this afternoon, much later on today than taking these photos,& I saw the owl in pursuit of them. One of the crows had raided a nest & partnered up with his other kin with white eggs in his beak. They were really making a racket. Then the owl flew in behind them.I hope I will get to see him tomorrow.I don`t believe the barred owl lays eggs now, they usually lay in March or April,so I don`t really know what nest the crows raided.

Wow Phyllis! This is quite a catch!
I LOVE owls. I can't figure out though, who would be laying eggs now, unless it was a chicken?
I watched ravens flipping and flying and doing their croaking call this morning. I was transfixed-just enjoying the sight.
Stop in at my blog when you get a chance.
You are amazing, ya know that?!
Love, Debra
I don`t know where the white eggs were from either. It`s funny you said chickens...the sparrows line the purple martin box with white feathers, exactly like chicken feathers, but I don`t know where they are from,as far as I know the closest chicken keepers are a fourth of a mile away.
I`m so glad you received your mail safely.Elizabeth begged me to go on a trip, she seems to like her new home.phylliso
This is an awesome picture! The pine tree setting makes it even more captivating. I bet it was a chicken egg from somewhere around there.
Last spring I was sitting on a rock in our woods, writing, and suddenly a barred owl came flying behind me and landed on a tree branch really close by. He watched me for a long, long time. I didn't have my camera then but I have other shots of barred owls. We have quite a few of them here. They are awesome creatures.
