Simba`s Seizures

We were gone for an hour Fri,Simba was sleeping on my bed when we left, got home about 4pm to find Simba having seizures at the front door.I did not know what was going on at first or what had happenned, his 2 front legs were wet & he was wailing like he was in pain,& foam was coming from his mouth.I scooped him up & the dh drove to the nearest vet, about 5 min.away.My vet I use is 20 min away.God love them, they took him in right away,we were so thankful. They are the ones who said he was having a seizure,he began pooping himself too.It was frightenning & so awful. The vet gave him a shot to calm his brain down & he did respond to that quickly. If he did well overnight,I could pick him up this am.
This am she called to say he did fine all night, but at 7:15 am he had another small seizure,so they were keeping him till Mon.He checked out fine for bloodwork. We don`t know if the cow really hurt his little brain or not, when I first saw him at about 4 -5 weeks,he only was having trouble with his hips. His face looked dirty, nothing more.He has been fine for exactly 2 weeks for us.We feel lost.It is amazing how empty the house is without the tiny furball ripping & tearing. Please pray for my kitten,we love him so much.

Hi Phyllis,

I also just wanted to let you know I have a cat who had seizures years ago. Come to find out he had an infection in his brain which we got cleared up with antibiotics. He is doning fantastic now,Hasn't had seizure in 10 years. i also have my Lillie bean, Who has Seizures about five times a week. She dones wet her self when this happens. We are not sure either what happen to our baby. The vet said she could grow out of them and that is what we are praying for.

I just wanted you to know i understand what you are going through and please keep us updated on your babies progress.
You are in my prayers and thoughts,
God Bless you and your family,Julie

Hi Phyllis...
I know exactly what you are going through. Noah, one of the 'kittens' (now not so little) began having seizures at about 4 months. For one solid week he had seizures every 3-4 hours. He was totally wiped out and miserable, as was I. After a week they went away. I'm not sure they ever totally went away, but now he has them about once or twice a week, sometimes not too bad, other times stronger. He often urinates and defacates when it happens. Once it is over he is up and looking around, cleans himself up and goes has a snack. When he first had seizures, he also was put on an antibiotic and checked for parasites. Because I had treated him with Advantage flea spot treatment only four days or so before, it seems as if this might have contributed to it. The 'theory' is he probably licked it off his littermates and got too much into his system. If you want to email me privately, I would be happy to talk with you about it. I know how devastating this type of thing can be. Noah seems to have some residual damage as far as 'eye/paw' cooridination, but he functions just fine otherwise. It still makes me sick to see him go through this. Very sorry you are having to experience this.

Tammy,I did not even realize kittens have seizures.I am so thankful for all of your advice.I just hope it is over,I`m thankful I took the kitten,as someone would have surely killed him if they saw him seizing, not knowing what was wrong with him,& I know that there is a lesson to be learned from all of this, but will have to pray hard to see it,phylliso
