Indigo Bunting passerina cyanea

The past 2 years we have been having the indigo bunting stop here in May for a few days.I don`t know why they haven`t nested here,I`ve only ever seen a lone bird, though.Perhaps this year he will have a mate with him. That is how it began with the brown thrasher,at first, only one,now we have a pair who raise babies. Here are some pictures for world bird Wed.Hop over to the springman`s blog,pineriverreview.blogspot.com to see some wonderful pictures from all over the world, join in the fun by adding your own!

Great look at this lovely bird. I wish we had them around here! I especially like the photos with the Cardinal because they give me a good idea of the relative size of your beautiful Indigo bunting.

Indigos are now a regular here in spring. Try offering White Millet seeds(their fave) in a feeder near bushes. They are shy birds.
Lovely captures of this very pretty bird!

Hiya phyllis,
Your American birds are so colourful.
And to have red and blue on the same picture is striking.

The shot of the incredibly blue Indigo Bunting with the Northern Cardinal on the feeder is really cool. It's always nice to be able to compare two species side by side.

Wonderful feeder photo! We have only seen indigo buntings once -- when we stayed in Port Aransas Texas one Spring (they and a jillion other birds migrate through there).... the buntings remain one of my favorite sightings ever.
