Yeah.....! I saw them & knew that they were here the past few days, but only was able to get their pictures today. They stop here twice a year, usually May & Sept. when they are migrating to breeding areas in the spring to the north & to the south for the winter. They feed on sunflower seeds & various tree seeds such as seeds from the box elder trees, pines,& they like all kinds of fruit & insects.
This will be my submission for world bird Wed.Go to the springman`s blog & show us your backyard bird this week. Now let`s see if I get the link right this week...http://pineriverreview.blogspot.com/

Wow it's nice that you get these. We hardly ever see them.
He/She is lucky to find such a well-built house!
I had a Rose breasted grosbeak in the yard this week myself. I think your right Phyllis, they are on the move. And you got the pictures to boot! Nice catches!
Great photos of beautiful little birds.
A beautiful little bird and another newbie for me...
Many thanks for sharing.
Great shots of the Rose-breasted Grosbeaks Phyllis! It's nice that you got photos of both the male and female too.
Great to see them!! Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.
I've never seen them!
Like you I only see them during migration. Sweet shots!
We have them all nesting season and get to see the young ones at the feeders. I love the brown 'suits' the girls wear. They also have a very sweet little plaintive call- a little peeping, besides the telltale chip they do. Great photos, as always!
Love, Debra
How fortunate you are to see and photograph these beauties!
What great photos!! We had them earlier in the summer and I've not seen them since--I guess I know where they went! :-)
